Metsä Group järjesti täällä viikolla keskustelutilaisuuden biotalouden edistämisestä Suomessa ja EU:ssa aiheen kannalta tärkeiden sidosryhmien kesken.

Kutsuvierastilaisuuden keskustelijat olivat yhtä mieltä siitä, että biotalouden edistäminen vaatii laajempaa ajattelutavan muutosta, rajat ylittävää yhteistyötä ja yhteisiä pelisääntöjä. Biotuotetehdas nähtiin EU-tasolla Suomen merkittävimpänä biotaloushankkeena.

”Kaikki biotalous ei ole kestävää vaan tulisikin puhua erikseen kestävästä biotaloudesta. Kulutamme jo nyt puolentoista maapallon edestä resursseja, joten lineaarisesta systeemiajattelusta pitää päästä kierto- ja biotaloutta suosiviin malleihin”, sanoi europarlamentaarikko Sirpa Pietikäinen alustuksessaan biotaloudesta EU:n kilpailukyvyn mahdollistajana.
