EU:n komission valmistellessa unionin ilmasto- ja energialinjauksia vuoteen 2030 Suomen hallitus on mo-nista muista Euroopan maista poiketen ilmoittanut, ettei se kannata uusiutuvan energian lisäämiselle maakohtaisesti velvoittavia tavoitteita vuoteen 2030 mennessä. Velvoitteiden kannalla ovat olleet muun muassa Saksa ja Ranska.
